Karim Adeyemi Challenges Anthony Gordon After Fast Barcelona Start

Karim Adeyemi’s early impact at Barcelona has given Hansi Flick another credible option across the forward line, with the €22m arrival from Borussia Dortmund now challenging Anthony Gordon for a place on the left.

Why Adeyemi’s rise matters for Barcelona

Adeyemi was initially viewed as cover for Lamine Yamal on the right side, but a move to the opposite flank has changed his standing quickly. He played the entire midweek win over Racing Santander and earned two spot-kicks as Barcelona scored seven.

Flick praised both the attacker’s speed and his integration within the group before the next fixture. Competition adds depth to the attack

The contest for the left-wing role has reduced Barcelona’s dependence on Gordon, who has registered five assists this season. With Adeyemi and Gordon offering different qualities from wide areas, the side have greater flexibility in the final third.

It also allows Raphinha to continue operating as a false nine, a role in which he has already scored nine domestic goals. Barcelona’s attacking balance will face another test this weekend when they travel to Sevilla.
