Heimir Hallgrimsson’s side imposed themselves from the opening stages, with Troy Parrott putting Ireland ahead in the 13th minute. Adam Idah added a second three minutes later and Jack Moylan completed the scoring in the 25th minute.
Moylan celebrated by kissing his black armband before turning to the Ireland badge. Hallgrimsson said his players had wanted to express themselves through their performance, praising the determination they showed on the pitch rather than focusing on himself.
Israel applied greater pressure after the interval, but Caoimhin Kelleher made key saves to ensure Ireland finished with a clean sheet. The game became heated around the hour when Idah and Raz Shlomo clashed, with German referee Harm Osmers cautioning both players.

Reserve goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu did not take part after deciding to boycott the match because of his own beliefs about the conflict. Hallgrimsson acknowledged that fulfilling the fixture would upset some people while being welcomed by others, but said the result was likely to be viewed positively.
