Harry Kane’s 150th Bayern Goal Seals Elversberg Win
Harry Kane ended his brief Bundesliga scoring wait by firing Bayern Munich to a 2-1 away win over Elversberg, producing the decisive finish that also took him to 150 goals in 153 competitive appearances for the German champions.
The England captain had not scored in either of Bayern’s first two league matches of 2026-27, a 5-1 victory against Stuttgart followed by a goalless draw with Schalke. That small run attracted attention around the 33-year-old, but he responded against newly promoted Elversberg when the match was in the balance.
Maurice Krattenmacher had brought Elversberg level with a striking effort curled in from the edge of the penalty area, threatening to earn the home side a point. Kane then restored Bayern’s advantage with an emphatic, clinical winner, ensuring the visitors left with all three points.
Kane said he had not allowed the discussion around his scoreless start to affect him. “That is football,” he said. “At times you have to wait a little longer than you would like. It was good to score and help the team win. Those were three significant points. It is difficult to play here; Elversberg are a strong side, so we are pleased with the result.”
Focus turns to Union Berlin
The striker also pointed to Bayern’s depth as an important factor during a demanding spell of fixtures. With the squad currently free of injuries, he said the availability of fresh players was vital for a team playing with high intensity across a packed calendar. Whether selected from the start or introduced later, every player must be prepared to contribute fully, he added.
Aleksandar Pavlovic, who supplied the pass for Kane’s goal, praised the forward’s familiar movement and execution. The midfielder said Kane regularly attempts that particular action and finished it superbly, while expressing satisfaction that his own pass had helped secure the win.
Elversberg coach Vincent Wagner also acknowledged Kane’s quality after the final whistle, saying the Bayern forward’s defining trait was his ability to make difficult finishing appear routine.
Kane now has 99 Bundesliga goals and can become the latest player to reach 100 in the competition when Bayern face Union Berlin on Friday night. A win would also send Bayern provisionally above Augsburg, Borussia Dortmund and Freiburg at the top of the table.
