Real Madrid go into that fixture with six wins from seven matches in all competitions this season. Their latest success was a 3-2 win against Elche, secured by Carlos Espi’s stoppage-time goal.

Atlético, meanwhile, have found their finishing touch again. Jonathan David has scored in each of their last two league victories, and Diego Simeone’s team sit only two points behind their city rivals ahead of the derby.

For Barcelona, the immediate task is simpler: preserve the faultless start in Seville and allow the derby to shape the chase behind them.
