Cole Palmer’s Twitch Stream Removed After EA Sports FC 27 Early Leak
Cole Palmer’s attempt to give fans an early look at EA Sports FC 27 ended with his Twitch stream being removed after he played the unreleased game on Tuesday afternoon.
The Chelsea and England midfielder, 24, spent more than an hour opening Ultimate Team packs and playing matches for thousands of viewers. EA Sports FC 27 is due to launch worldwide on September 25, while official early access begins on September 18.
Quick facts
- Palmer streamed EA Sports FC 27 before its September 18 early-access date.
- The broadcast was taken down following a copyright request, with FC 27 material removed from his Twitch channel.
- EA Sports FC’s official account entered the stream and told Palmer a planned live broadcast was scheduled for 6pm UK time.
- Palmer said his overall in-game rating had fallen from 87 to 85.
- He and Chelsea colleague Morgan Rogers have each recorded four Premier League goal contributions this season.
EA Sports FC’s intervention arrived while Palmer was still live. Its account jokingly asked whether the midfielder was meant to wait, noting that the developer would be live at 6pm UK time.
The stream was then cut off and Palmer’s channel lost its EA Sports FC 27 content. He responded on Instagram by tagging Twitch and EA, saying he had only tried to provide what supporters wanted and asking to be unbanned.
Palmer later replied to a post about the suspension on another social-media platform with a brief message indicating that he expected to return soon.
Before the broadcast ended, Palmer had also taken issue with his virtual player card. He was unhappy that EA had reduced his overall mark by two points, from 87 to 85, and said the downgrade was harsh given that he had effectively been playing on one leg for 10 months last season.
He also questioned why Rogers had been awarded a quicker pace rating. Palmer’s card listed 76 pace, and he suggested EA’s assessments could be difficult to understand.
The remarks reflected a difficult previous campaign in which a groin problem and a fractured toe disrupted Palmer’s early months. The playmaker later conceded that his desire to get back on the pitch had led him to return sooner than he should have.
Speaking during Chelsea’s pre-season trip to Sydney, Palmer said he could not perform at his preferred level while carrying those issues. He described last season as personally disappointing because of the injuries, but said seven weeks of recovery had left him feeling ready for the new campaign.
Palmer also travelled to either Sweden or Denmark to consult a specialist about the problem. Surgery was discussed, although he ultimately did not undergo an operation.
His start to the season has been more encouraging. Palmer and Rogers have both already supplied four Premier League goal contributions, adding to Chelsea’s early momentum alongside Palmer’s form in the Carabao Cup.
Whether Twitch restores his account remains unresolved, but Chelsea’s upcoming schedule is the more immediate priority. Palmer’s fitness and attacking output will be central as the Blues seek to carry their early-season form through multiple competitions.
