Aubameyang Scores in Five Straight as Deportivo Stay Unbeaten in La Liga
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s late header earned Deportivo La Coruña a 1-1 draw at Getafe and extended an exceptional start to the 2026/27 La Liga campaign. The 37-year-old Gabon international has scored in each of Deportivo’s first five league fixtures, helping Antonio Hidalgo’s newly promoted team remain unbeaten.
A five-match scoring run
Aubameyang has struck in every round since the opening weekend, beginning against Elche before adding goals against Málaga, Valencia and Villarreal. His equaliser at the Coliseum made it five goals from five appearances, while he has also supplied two assists.

The forward is the first player to score in a side’s opening five La Liga matches since Zlatan Ibrahimović did so for Barcelona in 2009. He is also only the 11th player in competition history to achieve the mark.
Header rescues Deportivo at Getafe
Deportivo were heading for their first defeat of the season after Getafe moved ahead in the 66th minute. Aubameyang intervened 12 minutes later, meeting Yeremy Pino’s accurate delivery with a well-directed header to bring the visitors level.
The goal preserved a valuable point for Hidalgo’s side and reinforced Deportivo’s early reputation as one of the division’s unexpected contenders. Aubameyang has quickly become the central figure in their attack following his return to Spanish football for a second spell in the country.

The Getafe goal also moved Aubameyang into a select group at Deportivo. He is the third player to score in each of the club’s first five matches of a league season.

Aubameyang arrived in Galicia with a career spanning AC Milan, Borussia Dortmund, Arsenal, Chelsea and Barcelona, along with a spell at Saudi Arabian club Al-Qadsiah. His earlier Barcelona stay was short but productive, and his latest return to Spain has again underlined his enduring penalty-box instincts.
