HIDIVE’s Murciélago TV Anime Sets Jan 2027 Release

Anime NYC has kicked off a fresh wave of TV anime announcements, with multiple series locking in January 2027 release windows. HIDIVE led the push for fans looking to stream new titles, while DMM Pictures and the teams behind several manga and light novel adaptations shared staff, cast, and early visuals.

HIDIVE confirms Murciélago TV anime for January 2027

During Anime NYC, HIDIVE debuted a teaser trailer for Murciélago, an animated adaptation of Kana Yoshimura’s manga. The platform also confirmed the project will be a television anime, set to premiere in January 2027.

The story centers on Kuroko Koumori, a mass-murderer with 715 victims to her name, who enters a government arrangement in exchange for immunity. She becomes a state “cleanup” operative tasked with taking down the city’s worst serial killers, partnering with Hinako Tozawa, an eccentric auto enthusiast and weapons specialist. The teaser pitch also emphasizes Kuroko’s ruthless tendencies and her openly stated libido, framing investigations as opportunities to seduce and expand her personal “harem.”

On the production side, Matsuo Asami (assistant director on Am I Actually the Strongest?) is credited as director at Satelight and Staple Entertainment. Takashi Naoya (Tales of Wedding Rings, Übel Blatt) serves as general director and is also handling series composition. Character design is by Kiyoshi Tateishi, with music composed by Masanori Akita and Yūichi Tsuchiya.

Yoshimura launched the manga in 2013 in Square Enix’s Young GanGan, and it is currently at volume 29 in Japan. In Italy, the manga is published by Panini Comics – Planet Manga. The franchise previously spawned a spin-off, Murciélago Byproduct Araña, which ran on Square Enix’s Manga UP! starting January 2018 and finished in 2020.

More January 2027 anime teases: Yu Nii!, Game Sekai Tensei, and two additional adaptations

Alongside Murciélago, other producers also used Anime NYC to confirm January 2027 debuts and to unveil additional staff or cast details.

Me and Older Brother Yu (Ore to Yu Nii!)

DMM Pictures released a new teaser for Me and Older Brother Yu (Ore to Yu Nii!), a TV anime adaptation of Miyuki Nakayama’s boys’ love manga Shota x Oni. The teaser confirms a January 2027 premiere and introduces more members of the production team.

The premise follows Tsubaki, who decides he wants to grow strong enough to protect his friend Yū after leaving a scar on Yū’s face in the past. Tsubaki is in elementary school while Yū is already in high school, with the story leaning into the idea that Tsubaki’s feelings will eventually reach him.

Shinnosuke Tokudome will voice Tsubaki, while Shūichirō Umeda voices Yū. Series direction is handled by Noriko Hashimoto, with Yuniko Ayana on series composition. Animations are by Studio Hibari. Yumi Kuroiwa provides character design, and the soundtrack is credited to Yukari Hashimoto and Ruka Kawada at Pony Canyon. Additional roles listed include: Hirofune Hane (art direction), Saki Tada (color design), Sena Nakagawa (cinematography), and Takeshi Takadera (sound direction).

Nakayama began the manga in September 2021 under Square Enix’s Gangan Bliss label. J-POP Manga publishes it in Italy, and the series won the Best Next Generation prize at the 2022 BL Awards.

Reincarnation in the Game World Dan-Katsu: Zephyrus’ TV anime

The official site for Reincarnation in the Game World Dan-Katsu: Game Addict Plays “Encouragement for Job Hunting in Dungeons” From a “New Game” released a teaser trailer, a first visual, and details on cast and staff. The adaptation is based on Kaede Nishikigi’s light novel series, and it is also confirmed for a January 2027 premiere.

After spending more than 8,000 hours on a single game, Zephyrus becomes a “divinity,” but loses all saved data one day and dies of shock. He then reincarnates into the very world he previously only viewed through a screen, using his in-game knowledge to enjoy his new life.

Yūto Uemura voices Zephyrus. The anime is directed by Nagisa Miyazaki at Studio MASSKET, with Yūji Kobayashi handling series composition.

The light novel launched on Kakuyomu in January 2021 and was published by TO Books with illustrations by Shuri in March 2022. A manga adaptation by Hiroshi Asagi began in April 2022 on Corona EX.

Megane, Tokidoki, Yankee-kun

A new promotional video was also shared for Megane, Tokidoki, Yankee-kun (Glasses With a Chance of Delinquent), the television anime adaptation of Naruki’s manga. The video confirms the series will debut sometime in 2027 and includes two new visuals, along with the main production staff.

The setup follows Momose, who wants an easy high school life free from delinquents and trouble. After meeting Ichikura—an apparently gentle boy with black hair and glasses—she assumes he’s trouble-free. However, she learns he was a delinquent back in middle school, and his habit of getting into fights raises the question of whether he’s truly changed or simply masking his past.

Makoto Hoshino is credited as director, with Studio Flad and Wao World producing. Megumi Shimizu handles series composition and scripts, while Ruriko Watanabe is responsible for character design.

Naruki started serializing the manga in January 2021 in Kodansha’s Bessatsu Friend, and the series currently has 11 volumes.

The Moon on a Rainy Night (Amayo no Tsuki)

Finally, at Anime NYC, REMOW announced that The Moon on a Rainy Night (Amayo no Tsuki), a TV anime adaptation of Kuzushiro’s manga, will officially debut in 2027.

The story follows Saki, who while rushing to a piano class ends up bumping into someone on the street. A tall, adorable stranger picks up Saki’s dropped sheet music, gives it back along with a patch, and leaves without saying a word. The next day, Saki learns the stranger is actually Kanon, a classmate at her new high school—Kanon who has hearing issues and rejects special treatment from teachers or peers. Over time, Saki gets close enough to chip away at Kanon’s cold, detached exterior.

Tomoe Makino directs at CompTown. Shōgo Yasukawa is in charge of scripts and series composition, and Ayumi Nishibata is credited with character design. Kuzushiro began serializing the manga on Comic Days (Kodansha) in June 2021.
